Not everyone has heard the word ultrasonic, but everyone in the beauty industry has heard the word skin scrubber. Also referred to as ultrasonic cleanser or ultrasonic peeling, it is a skin care tool that can be incorporated into skin treatments to deep cleanse, slough off dead skin, and clear out pores.
Treatment is painless with no downtime, and it is suitable for all skin types. It mainly comes as a metal device but sometimes it comes in silicone form, which is beneficial for extremely sensitive skin. The hand piece looks like a spatula with one side having a bevel edge at the tip and the other side flat. It is a very gentle exfoliation using high frequency vibration sound waves.
THE ULTRASONIC MELODY
For these sound waves to work, skin must be wet when performing the treatment as it’s a water-based exfoliation device. Therefore, either water or a cleansing aid that is water soluble can be used. The sound waves create a ripple across skin surface to shake up the skin cells to allow the cells to be sloughed off and dirt and oil to be cleaned out of the pores, enhancing product penetration during the treatment. Another advantage of this tool is that when turned flat on its back, the handpiece can create an iontophoresis effect, allowing products to absorb into skin quicker.
