Say Hello to Firmer Skin Today!

Written by   Loveleen Kaur, L.S.O., certified instructor and laser professional at Aesthetic Laser Academy and Spa

Collagen is all the craze in the aesthetic industry. It seems as though every treatment performed at medical spas, in one way or another, assists with collagen production. Loss of collagen in the skin leads to wrinkles and crepey skin.

With collagen production declining at the age of 25, this will lead to skin appearing thinner, skin discoloration, and wrinkles.

Adding a collagen supplement to a skin care routine will not only enhance, but multiply the desired results from any treatments performed, such as microneedling. Collagen supplements stimulate fibroblasts to produce new collagen. Supplementing with collagen daily will keep skin cells renewing and repairing normally.

To supplement collagen for a client’s skin, suggest that they choose a supplement that contains type I and type III collagen. Type I collagen makes up 80 percent of the dermis layer of the skin. As people age, type III replaces type I collagen. Suggest that clients take collagen first thing in the morning to allow the body to absorb it efficiently.
