It would be putting it mildly to say that the last two years have been an exceptionally trying time. With everything going on in the world, it often feels as though the surroundings are filled by anger, unrest, violence, and uncertainty. I have to admit that I have experienced it all right along everyone else. But I do like to think that everything in life happens for a reason, and that somewhere amidst the chaos and immoderation, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It might be just a twinkle. It might appear really far away, but it is there. I truly believe it. 

Therefore, I ask all dedicated DERMASCOPE readers to join me in a few moments of positive reflection. Although there have been struggles, the skin care profession continues to thrive. The desperate need to feel good, look good, and have a professional partner to tend to such needs exists now more than ever. In addition, there is an industry bursting at its seams that requires dedicated, committed, and educated individuals that strive to raise the bar and uphold qualified standards of the profession; that’s you – the skin care professional. And finally, there is a world in need of peace, knowledge, understanding, and compassion. All these aspects require the hard work and devotion of skin care professionals. 

Be thankful for what you have and what you have accomplished. Be grateful for accomplishments, whatever they may be, and be proud of the fact that any change is possible for tomorrow. 

Here is to 2020 and 2021. The last two years have taught people that they can endure more than they could have ever imagined as long as they look ahead, not back. The past determines today. Today determines tomorrow. Make today count. Lead the way to an amazing 2022. Have confidence.
