After close consultation with the co-organizer, associations, and partners, Messe Düsseldorf decided not to stage the trade fair duo BEAUTY DÜSSELDORF und TOP HAIR Düsseldorf in 2020 (originally scheduled for September 2020). The next BEAUTY DÜSSELDORF, the leading meeting point for Cosmetics, Nail, Foot, Wellness & Spa, will be held May 28 – 30, 2021 and TOP HAIR – DIE MESSE Düsseldorf, Europe’s leading event for hairstylists, will take place from May 29 – 30, 2021 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Werner M. Dornscheidt, President & CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, explained: “Although in our federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia it has been possible to hold trade fairs and special-interest congresses again since May 31, 2020, we have to evaluate each project individually. Due to the effects of the Corona epidemic and the additional regulations in the cosmetics sector our two lifestyle trade fairs cannot be staged as usual at the present point in time.” Forming an integral part of the two events is an extensive program of shows, workshops, and congresses designed to ensure a high-profile event character and to make a visit to these trade fairs an experience. BEAUTY and TOP HAIR focus on live treatments and demonstrations on people. "At both trade fairs, our exhibitors usually show the latest trends and body treatments live on the stand. The decision was not easy for us, but unfortunately, there is no alternative at present,” said Dornscheidt.

The partners and co-organizers support the decision not to hold the two trade fairs in 2020. “When I think of BEAUTY DÜSSELDORF I think of a colorful, lively event that thrives on visitors thronging in the aisles. The trade fair is a meeting point to discover new products and experience treatments live and – in the truest sense of the word – hands-on. Due to the current hygiene regulations in the cosmetics sector, which I consider to be right and important, this year’s BEAUTY would have not been a satisfactory event – neither for its exhibitors nor for its visitors. As an association for professional cosmetics we can understand the decision and already look forward to BEAUTY in May 2021,” commented Alexander Drusio, Deputy Chairman of the association Cosmetic Professional e.V. (VCP).

Christian Schikora, General Manager of TOP HAIR International GmbH, added: “We very much regret that both trade fairs will not take place this year – although the decision is correct in view of the effects of the Coronavirus. After we decided together with our partner Messe Düsseldorf to postpone TOP HAIR Düsseldorf in spring due to the Corona pandemic, we were hopeful that we would be able to hold the event in autumn. It was with a heavy heart that we decided to postpone the TOP HAIR trade fair until May of next year. Unfortunately, the proven concept of a trade fair, shows, workshops, and congress cannot be realized at the moment. The entire TOP HAIR team is now looking forward to meeting again in 2021, and we will do everything we can to ensure that next year's trade fair is a celebration for the entire industry.”
