Business Plan

Written by   Will Strunk

A business plan is a guide that outlines goals and details how the business plans to achieve those goals. Writing a business plan does not have to be an overwhelming task, as the plan does not need to be long and drawn out.

There are a few components that should be included in all business plans, including an executive summary, company overview, products and services, target market, milestones and metrics, and a financial plan. Start simple and let the plan grow naturally. If a spa is planning on branching into a new service, a business plan will help to ensure that the benefits and risks are analyzed and that the venture has the best chance of succeeding.
William Strunk says, “Too many people are intimidated by the word ‘plan.’ But planning is really about being prepared. Most people are familiar with the quote, ‘Failure to plan is a plan to fail.’ Studies show most people are more emotionally compatible with the thought of being prepared than they are with making a plan. But in essence, they are the same. Planning is the process of making or carrying out plans; specifically: the establishment of goals and the implementation of resources and procedures. In other (maybe, more compatible) words, planning is simply preparing for the success of the goal.”
