Beyond Beauty: The Benefits of Body Sculpting

For medical spa owners and skin care professionals, expanding a treatment menu can be a daunting task, especially if a spa business is considering offering the ever-popular body contouring service. Because this will most likely require a substantial initial investment, it’s important for spas to know which equipment will provide an abundance of positive results that will pay off.

That is why platforms such as DERMASCOPE and its venture, Aestheticians’ Choice Awards (ACAS) play such an integral role in skin care professionals’ bottom line. If a medical spa owner is on the market for the best sculpting device, the 2021 ACAs can show why they don’t need to look any further than BTL Aesthetics’ EMSCULPT.

The EMSCULPT may seem like solid option to bring in clients looking to target specific muscles with concentrated electromagnetic energy of contrasting intensity and duration, triggering contractions not possible with exercise with an increase of 16% in muscle mass, but in reality, BTL Aesthetics has much more to offer than a tighter core. However, a strong core does come with its own wellness benefits to promote to clients such as improved, “range of motion, balance, and overall strength,” according to Judson Brandeis, M.D. Furthermore, Brandeis states that, “The lower trunk muscles work together as a system, often working against each other but still part of a distinct whole that affects many aspects of life that we take for granted until they’re impaired.” This is imperative because after the age of 30, one will lose approximately 3% to 5% of their muscle mass every 10 years, and 45% of adults do not participate in enough physical activity to achieve health benefits.

In addition to the EMSCULPT, BTL Aesthetics offers the EMSELLA, which works similarly to the EMSCULPT but is specifically designed to strengthen the pelvic floor. Together the two work simultaneously to create an effective combination treatment, leaving clients with solutions to many problems from better posture and back pain relief to decreased incontinence, improving muscle hypertrophy and hyperplasia. EMSELLA is a confidence gamechanger for “patients who may experience leakage when coughing, sneezing, or working out; they may have sudden urges their weakened muscles can’t hold back for long, or they may experience any or all of these symptoms. Regardless, EMSELLA can help,” explains Carolyn Delucia, MD, director of VSPOT Medi Spa.

Upon further research, it seems that BTL Aesthetics is providing several solutions for medical spas to pass along to their clients with machinery such as the as the EMSCULPT Neo, which picks up where the EMSCULPT left off by combining muscle toning with simultaneous fat reduction. This service is available for clients with a body mass index of up to 35. On average, clinical studies found a 30% reduction in fat and 25% increase of muscle. If the EMSCULPT Neo is combined with EMTONE, clients can expect an all-encompassing treatment that "hits major or leading factors contributing to cellulite. Its etiology has five components including fat pockets, dimples from fibrous septae, loose skin from aging, and poor microcirculation. The fifth, usually untreated component is fitness, growing the muscle underneath to provide volume for better skin turgor and a natural-looking result,” states Refresh Dermatology’s Suneel Chilkuri, MD. Treatments such as these combine targeted pressure energy (TPE) with radio frequency to boost circulation in tissue and surface skin quality through the heat produced and mechanical manipulation.

Whether a medical spa is looking to expand their menu or spruce up their services involving body sculpting, it is important to deliver with equipment that provides cosmetic results, as well as overall wellness benefits to broaden the spa’s potential market and increase revenue. An example of a brand that is simplifying body contouring by becoming a one-stop-shop is BTL Aesthetics. With a 96% client satisfaction rating in body sculpting and 95% client satisfaction in incontinence reduction, over 300 engineers backing their products, and 25 years of innovation, it is difficult not to take their word for it.
