Tackling the Toll: Best Practices for Healthy Aging

Written by   Erica Marie Gatt

Skin care professionals most often experience clients who are starting to notice the inevitable signs of aging in their early 30s. Those years of tanning beds and sun worshiping at the beach eventually take their toll, causing clients to seek real and impactful change. This is typically when clients start pointing out fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, or uneven skin texture and want to make more drastic and impactful changes to their skin care, treatments, and daily habits.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

It is important for skin care professionals to educate clients on the importance of a healthy skin care routine from the beginning. Professionals should spend time with clients and share tips for what to look for when choosing skin care specific to age management, what tools they should use for their skin at home, and help create a schedule for their treatments. It is very important to incorporate all the above so clients can get the optimal results they are hoping to achieve.

If a client is looking to make changes to their skin, it is not as simple as skin care and professional treatments but a change that they need to stick to from a professional treatment, at-home use, diet, and exercise perspective. The body is one cohesive vehicle that needs to be nurtured from the inside out. Good skin starts from the inside so encouraging clients to eat as unprocessed as possible with fresh fruits, colorful vegetables, and a lot of water is essential.
