“Research the establishment, brush up on knowledge, practice what to say, and know in advance what to wear. First impressions go so far. Ask yourself interview questions and read current news about skin care or whatever pertains to the job. Know about current events and news. Sometimes interviews get off topic and the conversation that can carry is worth a lot as well. It shows how personable you are. Definitely know the directions to the establishment and arrive early. Have fresh breath, clean hair, clothes, and so on. Just be well-polished and confident and the job is in the bag.”
Gregory Coltren, head aesthetician at Syeni Salon & Spa

“Know your company’s products and goals, dress for success, be confident about what you know and honest about what you don’t know, and smile!”
Deb Light, aesthetician at Massage Envy

“First impressions are not everything but they are memorable. Be prepared! Bring a pen, a note pad, and an up-to-date resume. Have a nice portfolio with samples of your work too. Give the person interviewing you a glimpse of who you are but do not turn your interview into a therapy session.”
Hope Williams, aesthetician at Omega Springs Salon

“Before going to a job interview, research the company and come up with three questions to ask. Companies like when you know enough about them to ask questions. While you’re at it, anticipate questions they may ask you and practice with someone.”
Lindsey Gibson, massage therapist at Canyon Valley Spa & Massage

“Make sure you know exactly how to get to your interview the day before it takes place. There is nothing worse than showing up late!”
Jackson LeMark, owner and aesthetician at Royale Revive Day Spa

“Never lose your personality in an interview. Be prepared and courteous to everyone you meet at the company you’re interviewing for. Don’t forget to be honest and to try to feel comfortable with the person interviewing you. Don’t be embarrassed to admit that you do not know the answer to something. Companies want to hire a real person, not a robot!”
Kathie Pemberton, co-owner and master aesthetician at The Collins Day Spa

“While preparing for an interview, you should always have all of your materials ready to go the night before. You can practice what you’re going to say, but don’t practice to the point where it sounds like you’re reading from a script.”
Deb Larrisen, aesthetician at Felicity Spa and Salon

“Do your homework! Don’t just relax until the day of the interview. Make sure you know a few facts about the company that you could only know by doing in-depth research. This will make you look impressive and prepared! What’s most important to remember is to just be you!”
Judy Masons, manager at Sudden Glow Spa
