Over the past year, it seems that almost every skin care journal and newsletter is publishing anti-blue light articles espousing the detrimental effects to skin from over exposure to blue light. However, the articles have not stopped there. Mainstream publications and health and wellness websites have also been publishing articles on the effects of blue light on overall health. The common thread in these articles seems to be the increased exposure from clients’ electronics such as laptop computers, tablets, and smart phones. It is important to understand the differences between the blue light emitted from these types of devices, the blue light emitted from therapeutic LED light therapy devices, and even the blue light that comes from direct sunlight.
